| VOICE - PHILOSOPHY |
Singing is like speaking, only it's on a melodic line. The only difference is breath control. How you breath when you are relaxed is initially the principle technique for taking in air to sing. Your voice will then be free to ride on the air. There is no gimmicks or shortcuts. Singing is fun and rewarding and should be stress free, however good technique takes conscientious practice. My teacher, Ms. Berggren from Temple University and Julliard School of Music, has students who placed first at the Metropolitan Opera auditions. She says, "support is 99% of singing." That is my philosophy. Of course you want good placement. The roof of your mouth is like a sounding board. You want to place your air as it comes out toward the back of your upper front teeth. Where your air hits and the shaping of your lips and vowels will determine the color of your voice. |

| VOICE - METHODOLOGY |
| I use exercises customized to your voice which
include breathing technique, vowel formation, tongue placement,
ear training, and reportoire. After a good foundation and
vocal technique is formed, I use "24 Italian Songs and
Arias" to practice and utilize your techniques. Other
styles I teach include broadway, pop, and sacred music, along
with classical. Along with technique, I also encourage musical
expression and stage presence. All lessons are encouraged
to be taped as a guide for practicing at home. I prepare students
for auditions, college entries, concert performances, entertaining,
and stage presence. Singers are judged by their entrance into
an audition room (including clothing and style of walking)
by their demeanor, smile, and posture. Last, but not least,
they are judged on their vocal technique and musicianship.
Confidence first - vocal talent last. If a singer is serious
about their singing career, he or she must complete and compete
on every level. |

| PIANO - PHILOSOPHY |
| I believe that musical instruction is beneficial
to everyone…from the specially gifted to the musically
challenged. Music has been proven to benefit brain development
in the very young, aid in acquiring higher test scores in
school-age children, and improve cognitive skills. |

| PIANO - METHODOLOGY |
| I use a method that teaches music theory, piano
technique, and sight reading. As students advance, a classical
repertoire is introduced. By keeping up with theory, piano
technique, scales and arpeggios, and Hannon exercises, the
agility to play all kinds of styles can be achieved. |
